The short answer
Choose Klangio for drums, Guitar Pro files, a DAW plugin or a separate app tuned to your instrument. Choose ScoreStarling to write out five minutes of a voice, one instrument or solo piano for free, to keep recordings and sheet music in one workspace, to get jianpu or guitar TAB under the staff, or to work from ChatGPT or Claude.

Questions and answers
Which is free?
Klangio’s site says you can transcribe the first 20 seconds for free, with full songs and unlimited exports on Pro. ScoreStarling writes out the first five minutes of a voice, one instrument or solo piano for free, with free PDF, MP3 and WAV; MusicXML and MIDI need a 15-credit unlock per score.
Which is better for guitar or drums?
For drums or a Guitar Pro file, Klangio: it has Drum2Notes for drums, and Guitar2Tabs for guitar and bass tabs with Guitar Pro export. ScoreStarling writes guitar, bass and ukulele TAB under the staff or alone, free for one instrument, in your tuning and capo; it has no drums, no Guitar Pro file and no bends, slides or hammer-ons.
Which reads printed sheet music?
Both. Klangio has Scan2Notes for printed sheet music; ScoreStarling reads PDFs and pictures of printed music in the same workspace as recordings, for free.
Does either work inside my DAW?
Klangio lists a DAW plugin for its Transcription Studio. ScoreStarling runs in the browser and in AI assistants, not as a plugin; export MIDI or MusicXML into your DAW.
