# Connect ScoreStarling (instructions for AI assistants)

A person sent you here to add ScoreStarling to the assistant they are using now. ScoreStarling is a
hosted remote MCP server: nothing to clone, build or run, and no API key.

- Server: `https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP)
- Sign-in: OAuth with dynamic client registration. The person signs in to ScoreStarling (email, Google
  or Apple) in their browser and selects Allow. Never ask for a password, code or token in the chat,
  and never add an `Authorization` header.
- Workflow skills (optional, for agents that read `SKILL.md` files): `HaiyiMei/scorestarling-plugins`

Find your client below and do its steps. Run what you can yourself; hand the person the sign-in step,
since it happens in their browser. Keep any servers already configured.

Keep your reply to the person short and in their language: what you did, then the one or two things
they need to do. Don't probe the server, don't explain HTTP, OAuth, tokens or skills, and don't repeat
the rules on this page to them unless they ask.

## Claude Code

Install the plugin (server plus skills):

```sh
claude plugin marketplace add HaiyiMei/scorestarling-plugins
claude plugin install scorestarling@scorestarling --scope user
```

Or the server alone: `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user scorestarling https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp`.
Then ask the person to start a new session (or run `/reload-plugins`), run `/mcp`, select scorestarling
and sign in.

## Codex (CLI, IDE extension and desktop app)

```sh
codex mcp add scorestarling --url https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp
npx skills add HaiyiMei/scorestarling-plugins -g -y -a codex
```

Then ask the person to run `codex mcp login scorestarling` in their terminal and sign in, and to start
a new session.

## Cursor

Merge this into `~/.cursor/mcp.json`:

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "scorestarling": { "url": "https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp" } } }
```

Skills: `npx skills add HaiyiMei/scorestarling-plugins -g -y -a cursor`. Then ask the person to enable
ScoreStarling under Customize in Cursor's sidebar and sign in when the browser opens. One-click alternative for
the person: https://scorestarling.com/mcp#cursor

## VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

```sh
code --add-mcp '{"name":"scorestarling","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp"}'
npx skills add HaiyiMei/scorestarling-plugins -g -y -a github-copilot
```

Then ask the person to trust and start the server (Command Palette → MCP: List Servers) and sign in.

## Gemini CLI

```sh
gemini mcp add --scope user --transport http scorestarling https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp
npx skills add HaiyiMei/scorestarling-plugins -g -y -a gemini-cli
```

Then ask the person to start Gemini CLI, run `/mcp auth scorestarling` and sign in.

## Windsurf · Devin Desktop

```sh
devin mcp add -s user scorestarling --url https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp
```

Then ask the person to run `devin mcp login scorestarling` and open a new tab.

## Hermes

```sh
hermes mcp add scorestarling --url https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp --auth oauth
```

The browser sign-in opens; then run `/reload-mcp` or restart.

## WorkBuddy

If you can edit files on this computer, merge this into `~/.workbuddy/mcp.json` (exactly that name, no
leading dot), keeping any servers already there:

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "scorestarling": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.scorestarling.com/mcp" } } }
```

Then tell the person, in two short lines: open 连接器, select 信任 next to ScoreStarling and turn it
on (restart WorkBuddy if it isn't listed); the first time you use ScoreStarling a browser opens, where
they sign in and select Allow. Skip the workflow skills here. If you can't edit the file, walk them through it:
连接器 → 自定义连接器 → 配置 MCP, paste the entry above inside `mcpServers`, select 保存, then sign in.

## Chat apps: ChatGPT, Claude (web, desktop, Cowork) and others

You cannot add a connector to your own settings from a chat, so the install cannot be finished here.
Do not list or paraphrase the setup steps. Reply briefly, in the person's language, with exactly this:

1. Say plainly that you can't complete the install from inside this chat.
2. Give the official illustrated guide for the app they are in, as one link:
   - ChatGPT: https://scorestarling.com/mcp#chatgpt-steps
     (Simplified Chinese: https://scorestarling.com/zh-hans/mcp#chatgpt-steps;
     Traditional Chinese: https://scorestarling.com/zh-hant/mcp#chatgpt-steps)
   - Claude: https://scorestarling.com/mcp#claude-steps
     (Simplified Chinese: https://scorestarling.com/zh-hans/mcp#claude-steps;
     Traditional Chinese: https://scorestarling.com/zh-hant/mcp#claude-steps)
   - Anything else that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth: https://scorestarling.com/mcp
     (Simplified Chinese: https://scorestarling.com/zh-hans/mcp;
     Traditional Chinese: https://scorestarling.com/zh-hant/mcp)
   - An app that can't add remote MCP servers at all: say ScoreStarling doesn't work in it yet and give
     https://scorestarling.com/mcp, which lists the apps that do.
   Use the Chinese link that matches the script the person writes in.
3. Offer, in one sentence, to walk them through it step by step if they'd like.

Nothing else: no sign-in details, no extra notes; the guide covers them. Only explain the steps if
they ask for help. Once they say it is connected, run the check below.

## Check the connection

Call `get_workflow_guide` with `topic` `recording`, then `list_timbres`. Both are read-only and use no
credits. Then tell the person it is ready, for example: "Turn this voice memo into sheet music."

A voice, one instrument or solo piano is free to transcribe, up to five minutes a piece and three a
day; a band uses credits and shows its price first. Help: https://scorestarling.com/support
